Marcie Rinka Wessels has authored her first children’s picture book, Pirate’s Lullaby: Mutiny at Bedtime, which will be published by Doubleday Books for Young Readers in August 2015. Mary Beth Fraser Connolly is assistant director of the Lilly Fellows Program at Valparaiso University in Indiana. She recently authored a monograph, Women of Faith: The Chicago Sisters of Mercy and the Evolution of a Religious Community, and coauthored Empowering the People of God: Catholic Action Before and After Vatican II. Tim Keo has worked for Great Lakes Theater as an actor and teacher for 11 years, visiting classrooms to connect young people to classic theater. He also sings in a 50’s doo wop band called The Belairs. Patty (Martincic) Callahan earned her PharmD dedgree in 2013 from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and is currently working for Walgreens Pharmacy in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Patty and her husband, Tom Callahan (JCU ’89), have 3 children ages 9-17 and when they aren’t running the kids from one activity to the next, they enjoy working on their house and swimming in the pool. Dan Georges is client services technical operations manager at Explorys in Cleveland, and principal trumpet for the Solon Philharmonic Orchestra (he’s also an accomplished guitar and sax player). [pullquote]”It turns out doing research for alpaca farms is a lot more interesting than researching insurance technology.” − Bonnie Simon[/pullquote] Bonnie Simon had worked in IT for Progressive Insurance for ten years, but now she lives in Colorado Springs, raises chickens in the heart of the city and runs a small business called Hungry Chicken Homestead, which promotes local food, local farms and local business through writing, marketing and home economics training. “It turns out doing research for alpaca farms is a lot more interesting than researching insurance technology,” she says. Meg Pinkerton Dunn was back at Carroll in September to take her oldest child on a college visit. “Lots of great memories there and I was amazed by some of the changes,” she reports. Meg is VP at a credit union in Grand Rapids, MI. Dave Hutzel and Carol Cullen (JCU ’88) have been married more than 20 years. They live in Erie, PA, and their oldest child is a freshman at Virginia Tech. Dave retired from the Navy in 2003, and he is a internal medicine physician at UPMC Hamot. Liz (Mitchell) Pacioni lives in Milwaukee with her husband, Jim, and daughter, Sydney, a competitive gymnast. Liz enjoys her career with Johnson and Johnson, but also likes to travel to warm tropical places for much-needed cold weather breaks!
Speaking of which, I’m about to get on a plane to go to Hawaii to run the Honolulu Marathon with my dad and brothers, 21 years since we first ran that race together.
