Class Column: September 2015

I’m writing this short class column on the last day of summer – hope yours was as healthy and fun and active as mine. Time to come inside and gather up the news! Scott Tennant wrote a “once-every-few-years update” to tell us he’s director of communications at Vitamix in Olmsted Township. Scott lives with his wife, Terry, and three of their five children in Wickliffe. Their oldest is a senior marketing major at Cleveland State University, while another daughter is a freshman biomedical engineering major at the University of Akron. Scott says he occasionally gets back to John Carroll when one of his kids participates in an Academic Challenge tournament there. “Good times and good memories for me, even as one of the small but mighty army of Carroll commuters back in the day!” Thanks for the news, Scott, and for the reminder to us all to update the Class with personal, family and professional accomplishments. We also caught the news that Heath Fear was appointed chief financial officer and treasurer of Retail Properties of America, Inc., a real estate investment trust and one of the largest owners and operators of shopping centers in the U.S. Heath has a JD from the University of Illinois College of Law, and in his previous job he orchestrated more than $32 billion of debt and equity transactions. Summer fun, family pride or work changes – tell us, please. Use the online form at www.jcu92.org/ to send your updates.
